It was a huge honour to be invited to join the crew of this extraordinary movie. Working with Prop Master Doug Harlocker and Production Design Patrice Vermette I spent six months concepting and 3D modelling for fabrication a wide range of props. I’ll post up the work as soon as I have permission, in the meantime here’s a few stills from a small selection of the many I worked on. First up, the mounted Ornithopter gun:<\/p>\n

For the extraordinary Harkonnen arena scenes on Giedi Prime, I designed Feyd-rautha’s shield device, Baron Harkonnen’s spice pipe, the spectators’ monocular and the picador spears.<\/p>\n

The Shigawire recording device used by Princess Irulan was a really fun prop I also contributed too. Several artists worked on ideas for this one and the final design contains elements of all our work.<\/p>\n

I worked on a variety of props for the Fremen including these expandable bottles and water-extraction devices used to collect water from dead bodies.<\/p>\n

I had the huge honour of designing Christopher Walken’s knife and scabbard, used by Feyd-Rautha in the big final fight scene with Paul Atreides. Here is Austin Butler removing it from the intricate scabbard.<\/p>\n
